Everything happens for a reason.

This week I came down with bronchitis and I felt like a steamy pile of dog poo.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet today I just wanted to give Holly Smith from Holly’s Touch Photography more recognition because she deserves it.

She asked me what felt like at random, (which is where the everything happens for a reason comes into play) late Monday night if she could take some photos of me the next day.

I was hesitant to go, but I said yes. Hesitant because I was sick and just wanted to rest, I had my kids at the time she wanted to do it, and my social anxiety is usually at a 10. I said yes, my mom said she’d watch my kids when she got out of work, and I mustered up the courage to just do it.

I’ve been doing a lot of self improvement since the end of April and I swear you guys it just keeps getting better. I’ve always had confidence/self esteem issues. Wanting to stay true to myself but feeling like I wasn’t good enough. Looking at other women’s pictures and thinking I wished I looked like them.

Holly is such an amazing photographer to work with, she made me feel very comfortable. Reassuring me when I was being self conscious, we laughed together and I loved that it just felt like fun. She did amazing work on editing the photos to look grungy and that’s why I loved them so much more. She made me feel like one of the women I used to look at and think I wanted to be them! She gave me the confidence I’ve been longing for and made me finally see what others have tried so hard to before.

Another point I’d like to quickly make is that I don’t do a lot of things for me. Even if you’re nervous, have social anxiety, feel like you just can’t do something, my advice is to just DO IT. Seriously. If I hadn’t done this look what I would have missed out on. You can do whatever you put your mind to. You are worth it. Do something for YOU.

Here’s a few of the shots:

Now go view the rest on her Facebook page here at Holly’s Touch Photography

Make sure to give her page a like too! She deserves it.

Thank you, Holly. I’m forever grateful.

Music that helps my anxiety/puts me in a good mood!

You know when you can’t focus because you heart is racing, your mind won’t stop creating awful thoughts, breathing like you ran a marathon, shaking like you drank a pot of coffee and 2 Redbulls,
that was me this morning while driving to therapy…

I went to talk about some trauma in my past so I can move past it in a health way, and become a better version of myself. I didn’t want to, I was scared, I didn’t know what was going to happen. My mind was telling me I was going to chicken out or that it would ruin the next couple days because I was going to dwell on everything we spoke about today..

On the drive I put on my “anxiety” playlist and just listened.

Music clears my mind.
Music touches my soul.
Music calms my nerves.
Music puts me in a good mood.

I felt 10x better just listening and not thinking. I calmed down and repeated “I can do this!” between songs. I went into the office with a positive mind frame and I DID IT! Yes! I walked out proudstood tall and then jammed some more on my way home.

I love to listen to any and all Senses Fail, Halsey, and Post Malone. I’m listing a fraction of what I love to hear but I picked the songs that have a meaning to me, from the lyrics or songs that are just fun and put me back in a good mood if I’m feeling blah.

Maybe you can find a new song to help pick you up too!

Daily Challenge 20

It’s the final challenge day!
I challenge you to pick a bad habit that you’ve been meaning to ditch and give it up!
If you have to start slowly then do so.
Whatever it is, kick that habit today!

Could be:

  • Smoking
  • Eating meat
  • Being on your phone so much
  • Watching too much TV
  • Being around negative people
  • Drinking soda/Eating junk food
  • Nail biting
  • ANYTHING! etc.

I’ll be kicking the habit of reacting so quickly.
I’ll check in with you all who are participating to see how the progress is going!

If you have a set back, that’s okay. Pick yourself back up and start again. I’ve said this before but change doesn’t happen overnight.
You’ll get there and I’ll be there with you along the way!

After you decide what habit you’re kicking, whatever it is, I’d like you to take a hot bubble bath, do a face mask, do something FOR YOU! Take a little time today for YOU! No interruptions. Just pamper yourself. It’s been a long 20 days and I’m so proud of you all. You deserve something amazing everyday, but today especially! You’ve all done amazing work.

XO Samm

This journey isn’t over..

Daily Challenge 19

Today’s challenge may be a little tough but I’m right there with ya!
I’d like for all of us to think about how many times a day we say “NO!” and turn that into a “YES!”

Let’s all be like Yes Man for a day and see how fun it can be. I watched this video here where she said yes to her children for a week and it was amazing to watch! Check out the video and then think about what would happen if you said yes instead of no today!

I’m really excited to hear all the funny and interesting stories that come of this and to share mine too!

Have an exciting day today everyone!

XO Samm

Daily Challenge 14

Happy Saturday everyone!

Since you may still be not on social media as much, you may not even see this challenge, that’s okay, you can catch up later! XO

I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone today and wear something you normally wouldn’t. For me, it’s color! You may even have a few items in your closet you just never wear, grab one of those! We’ll talk about how it made you feel later to wear something you never would! I always joke about how I need to be on what not to wear..

I own pretty much all black and grey! I have a red sweater, a blue Doctor Who shirt, and the yellow one I bought just for today’s challenge.

The last part of today is to create a bucket list of some sort. Write down at least 20 things that you’d like to accomplish before a certain time, could be an age, the end of your life, etc. I created a 30 before 30 list a while ago. It’s nice to have a plan for fun things or things you think you’d never do but want to ASAP. I’m a visual person and seeing it written down will help me get it done!

I have finished my right sleeve, and ran a 5k color run since making this so I’ll be updating my whole list today with you guys!

I can’t wait to see your fun outfits and awesome lists!
XO Samm

Daily Challenge 12

Good morning!

Today’s challenge is to compliment a stranger.
Have you ever told someone you didn’t know something nice and then you just see their face light up?! I will always remember this time at the airport a guy looked like he was frazzled, he was about to walk out the doors.
I whispered to my husband “man, I love that guys shoes! Look at them!” then I even said something else to my husband “I should tell hi–”
Me to the random guy at the airport: “HEY DUDE I LOVE YOUR RED SHOES, SO COOL!”
That man smiled so big and yelled back “thank you!” I’m not sure why I hesitated at all because I’m usually never one to be quiet. Loud girl, here! HA.

Anyway, it may have a bigger impact on someone than you think by complimenting them. Maybe they’re having a really bad day, never get compliments, or just need a little pick me up. You’ll never know what’s going on, so if you like someones makeup, their hair, shoes, outfit, etc.
TELL THEM TODAY (& everyday of your life really)

At the end of the day today the last challenge is to cook a brand new meal!
Make something you’ve never ate before and maybe it’ll send you into a whole new world of new recipes and dinners for the week instead of the same ol’ hum drum stuff. I know I’m stuck in hum drum land for a while sometimes until I start searching new things and I found zucchini boats with quinoa! Changed my world!

So run off now and compliment a stranger and spend just a bit of time cooking a new meal!

XO Samm

Daily Challenge 11

Wake up, open your eyes, roll over, PUT YOUR FEET FIRMLY ON THE GROUND.
Say to yourself “Today is going to be amazing.”
Drink some water before that coffee/tea.

Today’s challenge is to not complain at all today. If you do make a complaint whether it be aloud or in your thoughts, you need to replace it with a positive and say that aloud.

The more you try to train your brain to think positively the faster it’ll come to you to think of something good instead of going straight to the bad.

Retraining your brain isn’t going to happen today, but if you try it all day long it just may be the start of something so wonderful!

Be a positive Patsy
not a negative Nancy.
